Details: SUMMARY: Policy meeting with EPA DETAILS: Dave Leland and Kari Salis from DWP met with EPA (Mike Bissell, Marie Jennings, Harold Rogers, Fredianne Gray, Mike Finn, Stephanie Harris, Tony Barber, and Mary Schoen) and the Portland Water Bureau (Yone Akagi, Chris Wanner, Eddie Campbell, Dave Peters, Ann Richter, Melissa - admin, David Schaff) to discuss policy issues around the LT2 cryptosporidium treatment variance. EPA wanted to be sure that any underlying assumptions were clarified, and stated that their concern is protecting public health over the long term. PWB stated that they believe the criteria under which a variance would be granted had been set, and they hope to meet that criteria. Many details were discussed, as well as communications, and policy issues. The following day many participants took a tour of the Bull Run watershed and headworks, including a crypto sampling station where the filters are prepared for the lab. ACTION NEEDED: EPA Region 10 will write a letter discussing the key points of the meeting.
