Details: | SUMMARY: Crypto detect at Bull Run #1 DETAILS: Yone Akagi called me 1/4 to report that they received preliminary sample results today from ASI, their contract lab, regarding samples collected December 30th. They were sampling according to their protocol from the variance request, and high stream flows triggered "event sampling." 3 samples were taken from upstream locations in the watershed, and 1 from the intake. Those results came back today, and the intake sample had a detection of one crypto oocyst and one giardia cyst. one upstream location also had a detect of one crypto oocyst.A sample was also taken on sunday, January 1 at the intake due to high turbidity (~3 NTU). Tuesday 1/3 was their normal sample day, so 3 upstream locations were sampled, as well as at the intake. These results are expected on thursday 1/5.The positive sample will be sent to a second lab, Clancy, for confirmation (a microbiologist looks at the same slide). After that, the sample slide will be sent to the University of Texas lab, where Dr. DiGiovanni will scrape the slide and analyze the sample using the PCR method (genotyping).Samples will be collected thursday 1/5 from the 3 upstream locations, as well as the intake. Friday a sample will again be taken from the intake, for a total of 4 samples this week. Their plan is to take 4 samples each week from this point forward, unless we advise them of an alternate schedule. Their proposal matches the draft NOI condition language. ACTION NEEDED: see CR#2 |
